Eastbound Sky Harbor Boulevard Closed Nightly for Two Weeks
Heavy traffic expected due to project work at airport’s Terminal 3; drivers should expect delays, allow for extra travel time.
Location & Duration:
Beginning the evening of Sept. 23, Eastbound Sky Harbor Boulevard on the north side of Terminal 3 will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., through and including the night of Monday, Oct. 6 (closure ends 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7).
Detour Information:
- All eastbound traffic must detour through Terminal 3 Inner Curb lanes, which will remain open.
- Drivers should follow posted detours and consider entering from the airport’s east entrances. No restrictions are planned on westbound Sky Harbor Boulevard lanes.
- Some ground transportation operations relocated to the North Inner Curb.
- Rideshare relocated to the South Outer Curb. Some Rideshare/transport companies may direct passengers to the 24th St and 44th St PHX Sky Train® stations for drop-offs/pickups.
- Travelers are encouraged to allow extra time and strongly consider drop-off/pickup at the 24th St and 44th St PHX Sky Train® stations to avoid the heaviest traffic.
General Information:
- This closure is necessary for the Terminal 3 North 2 Concourse project , specifically to install drilled shafts safely within nightly 12-hour work windows.
- Additional roadway restrictions are expected over the next year as part of the project.

- Access to Rental Car Center, East I-10 & Aviation HQ / Command Center (Green):
Westbound Sky Harbor Boulevard traffic must keep right to exit at the Frontage Road and continue to 24th Street. - Access to West Air Cargo & Aviation Facilities (Orange):
- Eastbound Buckeye Road traffic: Turn left at Copperhead Drive and merge onto Eastbound Sky Harbor Boulevard, keep right to exit at West Air Cargo / PHX Maintenance Access and turn right.
- Eastbound I-10 traffic: Continue straight to Eastbound Sky Harbor Boulevard, keep right to exit at West Air Cargo / PHX Maintenance Access and turn right. Do not use 24th Street Station exit. - Access to West Economy Parking & Gate 220 (Orange → Blue):
- Eastbound Buckeye Road traffic: Turn left at Copperhead Drive and merge onto Eastbound Sky Harbor Boulevard, keep right to exit at West Air Cargo / PHX Maintenance Access and continue straight.
- Eastbound I-10 traffic: Continue straight to Eastbound Sky Harbor Boulevard, keep right to exit at West Air Cargo / PHX Maintenance Access and continue straight. - Access from Air Cargo & Aviation Facilities (Blue → Green):
All traffic exiting must travel Eastbound on Buckeye Road and merge back onto Westbound Sky Harbor Boulevard to I-10 or 24th Street.

General Information:
- Please use caution when traveling through the area, watch for detour signage, and obey posted speed limits.
- Be aware of active construction, including barricades, equipment, and personnel working in the area.
- Plan for additional travel time when accessing the above locations.

I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project Completed
The I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project runs along 11 miles of Interstate 10 between the Loop 202 and I-17 near Phoenix Sky Harbor.
The project has been successfully completed. The project has delivered on its goals to provide safer, smoother, and more efficient travel for everyone, reducing congestion and getting motorists to where they need to go, paving the way for continued growth and opportunity.

Taxiway Uniform
Construction of the new 2,000-foot taxiway is underway at Sky Harbor Internation Airport with an anticipated project completion date of mid-2027. This new infrastructure will bridge the north and south airfields on the west end of the airport, allowing for better aircraft flow and streamlined airfield operations.
Terminal 4 Elevator, Escalator and Moving Walkway Modernization
Upgrades to Terminal 4’s vertical and horizontal transportation infrastructure is underway with the modernization of Elevators, Escalators and Moving Walkways terminal wide. This project will consist of two phases, the first of which will continue though 2026 and update over 25 pieces of equipment.
