Fire Alarm System Testing & Inspections

  • Terminal 4, Main Terminal, Passenger Level – All Areas

 

Dates:  Wednesday, August 16 and Thursday, August 17 (2-Nights)

           

Times:  Nightly, 10:00 PM until 6:00 AM (8-Hours)

 

Points:

  • The contractor will omit a controlled non-toxic unscented smoke

The smoke will be visible in the terminal

  • Open flames will be used with in the terminal for testing purposes
  • Audio/Visuals will be present between the hours of 2:00 AM until 3:00 AM Thursday, August 17 
  • Audio/Visuals will be disabled at all other times during the testing
  • Elevator recall functions will be disabled
  • All other auxiliary functions of the fire system will be functional
  • This work will require the shutting down of:
  • Air Handlers
  • Exhaust Fans
  • Stairwell Pressurization Fans
  • This work will require the opening of:
  • Garage Lobby Exits
  • Slider Doors (baggage claim area)
  • This work will require the releasing the magnetic stairwell door holders

The above listed auxiliary functions will be intermittently turning off and on

  • City of Phoenix Energy Systems and Mechanical Maintenance will be present during testing, and resetting the system after work is complete to ensure proper functionality
  • It is recommended that all food items be stored away or covered during testing

 

Why:    Fire Alarm System Testing and Inspections are necessary to verify the operation of the smoke control system (Ware)
